About the position

David Weekley Homes is seeking a Land Acquisition Manager to join our Jacksonville team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience in residential land acquisitions, analysis, development or brokerage experience in the Jacksonville area. This role is pivotal in assessing the feasibility of potential land purchases and managing the entire process from acquisition to lot delivery. The Land Acquisition Manager will work closely with Area & Division Presidents and the Vice President of Land to ensure that all land acquisitions align with the company's strategic goals. In this position, you will be responsible for managing entitlement and site selection, conducting due diligence reviews, underwriting, and obtaining approvals for proposed new land acquisitions. Networking is a key component of this role, as you will be expected to build relationships with developers, brokers, landowners, and other builders to identify new land opportunities for David Weekley Homes. Maintaining a high level of visibility in the home building business is essential, and you will actively participate in community, civic, and business organizations relevant to the industry. The ideal candidate will possess considerable initiative, independence, and intuition, along with excellent organizational, prioritization, and communication skills. You should be driven to achieve results with a sense of urgency while being able to see the big picture and focus on the day-to-day details that contribute to successfully developed communities. Proficiency in interpreting and analyzing financial reports, confidence with numbers and Excel, and the ability to influence external stakeholders are crucial for success in this role. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a professional demeanor, and a win-win attitude are also important traits for the Land Acquisition Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Work interactively with Area & Division Presidents and Vice President of Land to assess the feasibility of potential land purchases.
  • Manage entitlement and site selection, due diligence review, underwriting, and approvals for proposed new land acquisitions.
  • Network with developers, brokers, landowners, and other builders to determine new land opportunities for DWH.
  • Maintain a high level of visibility in the home building business, actively participating in the community, civic and business organizations pertinent to the industry.
  • Manage and oversee the development of active projects from acquisition to lot delivery (100% owned projects).
  • Visit each newly presented opportunity and evaluate how this opportunity fits with DWH business plan.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in residential land acquisitions, analysis, development or brokerage experience in the Jacksonville area.
  • Excellent work practices with respect to organization, prioritization, and communication.
  • Proficient in interpreting and analyzing financial reports.
  • Confident with numbers and Excel.
  • Ability to influence a large number of external people to put your priorities first, with tempered assertiveness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional, calm demeanor, with win-win attitude.
