About the position

The Land Acquisition Program Manager at Sonoma Land Trust (SLT) is a pivotal role focused on managing a diverse portfolio of real estate transactions aimed at the protection and stewardship of land, water, and biodiversity across Sonoma County. This position is integral to the implementation of SLT's 2028 Strategic Plan, which outlines specific land and water protection targets designed to address climate change and fulfill ambitious conservation goals, including California's 30x30 initiative. The Program Manager will collaborate with a team of experts specializing in various regions, including the San Pablo Baylands, the Mayacamas Mountains, the Russian River, and the Sonoma Coast. This role requires a deep understanding of real estate transactions and the ability to navigate complex projects that contribute to the preservation of Sonoma County's natural resources. The Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of transaction types and purposes, ensuring that each project aligns with SLT's mission and strategic objectives. This includes conducting due diligence, negotiating terms, and managing relationships with stakeholders, including landowners, government agencies, and community organizations. The successful candidate will bring a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a passion for conservation to drive SLT's land acquisition efforts forward. Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of real estate transactions focused on land protection and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with experts in various regions of Sonoma County to identify and pursue land acquisition opportunities.
  • Conduct due diligence on potential acquisitions, including environmental assessments and title reviews.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of real estate transactions with landowners and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with government agencies, community organizations, and other partners.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to land acquisition.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders regarding land acquisition projects.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in managing real estate transactions, particularly in land conservation or similar fields.
  • Strong understanding of land use regulations and environmental policies in California.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • A passion for conservation and a commitment to protecting land and biodiversity.
