About the position

As a Land Acquisition Manager at David Weekley Homes, you will play a crucial role in the growth and development of our residential projects. You will work collaboratively with the Land team, as well as the Regional and Division Presidents, to assess the feasibility of potential land purchases. This position requires a strong understanding of the land acquisition process, including managing entitlement and site selection, conducting due diligence reviews, underwriting, and obtaining approvals for proposed new land acquisitions. Your ability to network with developers, brokers, landowners, and other builders will be essential in identifying new land opportunities for the company. In this role, you will maintain a high level of visibility in the home building business by actively participating in community, civic, and business organizations relevant to the industry. You will also manage and oversee the development of active projects from acquisition to lot delivery, ensuring that all projects are aligned with the company's business plan. Visiting each newly presented opportunity and evaluating how it fits with David Weekley Homes' strategic goals will be a key responsibility, allowing you to contribute to the successful development of communities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong initiative, independence, and intuition, along with proficiency in interpreting and analyzing financial reports. You should be confident with numbers and have advanced skills in MS Excel. Excellent organizational, prioritization, and communication skills are essential, as is a driven attitude to push for results with a measured sense of urgency. You will need to maintain a focus on both the big picture and the day-to-day details that lead to successful community development. Your ability to influence external stakeholders and communicate effectively will be critical to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Land team and Regional and Division President to assess the feasibility of potential land purchases.
  • Manage entitlement and site selection, due diligence review, underwriting, and approvals for proposed new land acquisitions.
  • Network with developers, brokers, landowners, and other builders to determine new land opportunities for DWH.
  • Maintain a high level of visibility in the home building business by participating in community, civic, and business organizations.
  • Manage and oversee the development of active projects from acquisition to lot delivery (100% owned projects).
  • Visit each newly presented opportunity and evaluate how it fits with DWH business plan.

Requirements

  • 5 years work experience in residential land acquisitions, analysis, development or brokerage experience within the San Antonio area.
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Finance, Business, Economics, Real Estate, Land Development, Law, or related fields.
  • MBA or JD strongly preferred.
