About the position

Larson Design Group (LDG) is seeking a dedicated Civil Designer to join our Land Development department in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. This position is integral to our team, focusing on intermediate to advanced civil engineering drafting and design tasks. As a Civil Designer, you will autonomously apply engineering principles and make informed decisions to deliver high-quality results. Your role will involve utilizing AutoDesk Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and other civil engineering software to produce technically accurate deliverables that meet our clients' needs. In this position, you will aid in the development of stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and construction plans under the guidance of a Professional Engineer. You will analyze design alternatives to create cost-effective solutions for project challenges. Coordination is key, as you will prepare advanced multi-discipline drawing sets, collaborating with technical, administrative, and other design staff to ensure project success. Quality assurance and quality control are paramount in our work. You will promote and support these processes to enhance the quality of deliverables and minimize design errors. Additionally, you will research and interpret design standards, regulations, and permit requirements, applying this knowledge to your projects. Your responsibilities will also include assisting with design calculations, reviewing technical specifications, and preparing cost estimates, all while contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Uses AutoDesk Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and other Civil Engineering-related software programs to develop technically accurate and high-quality deliverables.
  • Aids in the development of stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and construction plans while under the direction of a Professional Engineer.
  • Analyzes design alternatives to develop cost-effective solutions to project challenges.
  • Coordinates the preparation of advanced multi-discipline drawing sets as required for assigned projects, including coordination with technical, administrative, and other design staff.
  • Promotes, utilizes, and supports quality assurance and quality control processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce design errors and omissions.
  • Researches, reviews, interprets, and understands written design standards, regulations, code compliance, and permit requirements and applies them to design projects.
  • Assists with design calculations, calculates quantities, reviews technical specifications, and prepares cost estimates.
  • Aids in enhancing the team's overall efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other related field.
  • Minimum four (4) years' experience in civil engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoDesk Civil 3D required.
