About the position

Larson Design Group (LDG) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Civil Designer to join our Land Development department in Phoenix, AZ. This position is pivotal in delivering intermediate to advanced civil engineering drafting and design tasks. As a Civil Designer, you will autonomously apply engineering principles and make informed decisions that contribute to the successful completion of various projects. You will be responsible for utilizing AutoDesk Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and other Civil Engineering-related software programs to produce technically accurate and high-quality deliverables. Your role will also involve aiding in the development of stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and construction plans under the guidance of a Professional Engineer. In this position, you will coordinate the preparation of advanced multi-discipline drawing sets, ensuring effective collaboration with technical, administrative, and other design staff. You will promote and support quality assurance and quality control processes to enhance the quality of deliverables and minimize design errors and omissions. Additionally, you will research, review, interpret, and apply written design standards, regulations, code compliance, and permit requirements to your design projects. Your responsibilities will also include assisting with design calculations, calculating quantities, reviewing technical specifications, and preparing cost estimates. Ultimately, you will play a key role in enhancing the team's overall efficiency and effectiveness, contributing to the success of our projects and the satisfaction of our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Uses AutoDesk Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and other Civil Engineering-related software programs to develop technically accurate and high-quality deliverables.
  • Aids in the development of stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and construction plans while under the direction of a Professional Engineer.
  • Analyzes design alternatives to develop cost-effective solutions to project challenges.
  • Coordinates the preparation of advanced multi-discipline drawing sets as required for assigned projects, including coordination with technical, administrative, and other design staff.
  • Promotes, utilizes, and supports quality assurance and quality control processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce design errors and omissions.
  • Researches, reviews, interprets, and understands written design standards, regulations, code compliance, and permit requirements and applies them to design projects.
  • Assists with design calculations, calculates quantities, reviews technical specifications, and prepares cost estimates.
  • Aids in enhancing the team's overall efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other related field.
  • Minimum four (4) years' experience in civil engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoDesk Civil 3D required.
