The Land Development Civil Engineer, PE position at our Civil Engineering and Land Planning firm involves a multifaceted role that encompasses the design and development of plans and drawings for various land development projects. These projects primarily focus on residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, requiring the engineer to create preliminary layouts and final drawings for essential infrastructure components such as roadways, sanitary sewer lines, storm drains, storm water retention/detention facilities, waterlines, and mass grading. The role demands a strong understanding of civil engineering principles and the ability to translate them into practical applications that meet client needs and regulatory standards. In addition to design responsibilities, the engineer will organize and conduct engineering investigations and planning work that have a well-defined scope. This includes outlining and preparing reports that contribute to more complex documentation, all while working under the guidance of more experienced professionals. The position also requires providing engineering services during construction activities, which involves reviewing shop drawings for compliance with specifications, preparing records and progress reports, and observing construction procedures to ensure quality control. The engineer will be responsible for preparing preliminary estimates of man-hours, costs, and material quantities, including earthwork takeoffs. Quality control is a critical aspect of this role, as the engineer will participate in checks to maintain high standards in all produced work, ensuring that computations and designs are accurate and meet project specifications. Coordination with other disciplines is also essential to ensure that all aspects of the project are aligned and executed effectively.
