About the position

McClure is currently searching for a skilled Project Manager to join our growing Development team in Charlotte, NC. The Project Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for a variety of high visibility and critical projects within the organization. This role requires a successful Project Manager to demonstrate past success in team leadership and the ability to mentor and develop less experienced engineers. As a business-minded professional, the Project Manager will lead their respective group as a productive and cohesive team, contributing to the overall success and profitability of the company. In this position, the Project Manager will be the face of the project, responsible for coordinating with key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle and ensuring successful completion of projects for both the client and our firm. The Project Manager must possess the technical skills necessary to prepare effective solutions that meet the client's needs, as well as the interpersonal skills required to assess client satisfaction and lead the team effectively. The ideal candidate will have the ability to plan and execute projects to ensure on-time and on-budget completion, build trust, delegate work, and lead their team as a business unit to achieve both team and corporate goals. Monitoring client satisfaction and maintaining strong client relationships are essential, along with overseeing the team's QA/QC process to ensure high-quality engineering solutions. The Project Manager will also be responsible for articulating clients' goals and objectives to Project Engineers and other team members, assessing business trends impacting the team, and preparing a business plan for the team's success. A strong community presence through volunteering on boards, commissions, and organizations is also expected, representing McClure in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for high visibility and critical projects.
  • Lead and mentor less experienced engineers within the team.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure successful completion of projects for clients and the firm.
  • Prepare effective solutions to meet client needs.
  • Monitor client satisfaction and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Oversee the team's QA/QC process to ensure high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Articulate clients' goals and objectives to Project Engineers and team members.
  • Prepare fee estimates, write proposals, and manage contracts throughout the project.
  • Assess business trends impacting the team and prepare a business plan for success.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 5 years of Engineering or Project Management experience.
  • Professional Engineering License with a history of successfully managing a team.
  • Strong understanding of good project management procedures.
  • Strong understanding of zoning ordinances, entitlements, and building permits.
  • Strong understanding of Consulting Engineering Business Practices, risks, financial accountability, and key financial metrics.
  • Understanding of business contract law, professional liability, and insurance coverage is preferred.
  • Proven track record for successful projects.
  • Sustained success at building new and maintaining existing client relationships.
