About the position

The Land Development Specialist in Capital Strategic Planning is responsible for the professional planning, development, improvement, and management of parkland, stormwater, urban forestry, and other public infrastructure. This role involves preparing and reviewing various plans and specifications, conducting site studies, and ensuring compliance with project standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and reviews sketches, plans, maps, construction drawings, and specifications for development and improvement projects.
  • Studies conditions of development and improvement sites, including topographical features and man-made structures.
  • Operates computer-aided design (CAD) equipment and Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
  • Creates and maintains leases in conjunction with the City Attorney's Office.
  • Researches and makes recommendations for site selection and land acquisitions.
  • Reviews and inspects construction and development projects for compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Makes recommendations regarding prioritizing projects funded by the Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) budget.
  • Prepares proposal requests, professional service contracts, and bid advertisements.
  • Consults with departmental staff and other City departments on various technical matters.
  • Prepares correspondence and comprehensive technical reports.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid State of Ohio certificate as a registered Landscape Architect, Architect, or Professional Engineer.
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of experience in planning, design, development, management, or construction of parkland, recreational areas, stormwater infrastructure, or urban forestry may substitute for the certificate.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
