About the position

The Director of Land is a key leadership role responsible for managing all land-related functions within the company. This position requires an experienced land professional who can handle dynamic assignments independently while ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. The Director will oversee land acquisition, negotiations, and operational support, facilitating both growth and operational needs of the company. The role involves significant interaction with stakeholders, public officials, and legal teams to ensure successful project delivery and adherence to company values.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all Land related functions for the Company.
  • Conduct business, landowner, and community interactions professionally and respectfully.
  • Coordinate decision-making over challenging assignments, negotiations, contracts, and asset development.
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Work closely with attorneys to ensure land transactions adhere to laws and regulations.
  • Prepare detailed reports, documentation, and presentations for stakeholders and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with entitlement processes, site selection, and business requirements.
  • Coordinate with public officials on building permits, zoning regulations, and public approvals.
  • Oversee acquisition and renewal of easements, rights-of-way, permits, licenses, and leases.
  • Coordinate land and environmental survey activities.
  • Maintain a current document database (SharePoint) and manage surface disturbance payments.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years' experience as an Oil and Gas Landman with a successful track record in land acquisition and negotiation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Land Management, Petroleum Land Management, Geology, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of land acquisition processes, title research, and oil and gas lease agreements required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required.
  • General knowledge of mineral land elements and land-surface interactions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Law degree is a plus.
  • Experience with GIS systems and ability to read county-maintained land ownership CAD maps.
  • Proficiency with Google Earth.
