About the position

The Land Rehabilitation and Maintenance (LRAM) Coordinator position at Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona, is a field and office-based role focused on implementing various projects related to land rehabilitation and management. The coordinator will work closely with the Yuma Proving Ground ITAM program and Range personnel to support military training exercises and operations. This position is part of the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) at Colorado State University, which aims to promote sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense and public lands.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the implementation of land rehabilitation projects identified by the Yuma Proving Ground ITAM program.
• Operate heavy equipment to maintain, repair, and improve training lands, trails, and roads.
• Perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and small engines.
• Read and navigate using maps, GIS applications, aerial photographs, compasses, and GPS units.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure safe working standards are maintained.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Minimum of six months of specialized experience in land rehabilitation and management.
• Experience operating heavy equipment such as dump trucks, dozers, graders, and excavators.
• Experience performing preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and small engines.
• Basic knowledge of terrain and soil composition.
• Ability to operate four-wheel drive vehicles in rough terrain.
• Physically able to work outdoors and perform strenuous labor under hazardous conditions.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly without assistance.
• Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one by the employment start date.
