About The Position

The Land Tender (Farmer) and Educator position at Kindness Farm involves facilitating educational programs focused on holistic and regenerative farming practices for diverse community members. Requirements

  • Experience with farming, plants, and regenerative/holistic land care (at least 1 year).
  • Experience leading education programs and/or working with youth and/or adults in outdoor settings.
  • Experience and comfort with group and behavior management.
  • Excellent communication skills and enjoyment working with both children and adults.
  • Understanding and/or lived experience of systems of inequity and oppression, both intentional and unintentional, and system impacts on youth and communities.
  • Ability to comply with all school district and state requirements regarding COVID vaccinations and background checks.
  • Ability to work in a farm setting, walk or stand for extended periods of time, and work in inclement weather.
  • Strong collaboration skills, and working with different kinds of people from different backgrounds.
  • Self-motivated nature and an ability to work independently and complete key responsibilities without supervision.
  • Experience or passion for social justice and equity work.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate field trips, classes, and workshops for participants from diverse backgrounds ages K-12, youth, adults, and seniors.
  • Teach participants about holistic, regenerative gardening, farming, and land tending techniques and join them in land-tending activities.
  • Facilitate experiential learning activities that promote meaningful learning, growth, and connection with land, oneself, and community.
  • Work alongside volunteers and participants completing various tasks like planting, weeding, harvesting, woodchipping, composting, and more.
  • Manage groups safely and with inclusivity, kindness, patience, and positive discipline.
  • Interact with participants and volunteers in a warm, friendly, caring, confident manner.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment for youth and adults.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with other farm team members and volunteers.
  • Support farm visitors with varied needs through trauma-informed strategies.
