About the position

The Landfill District Manager at Waste Connections is responsible for overseeing the operations of a large landfill in Oklahoma City, processing nearly 700k tons annually. This role involves leading a team, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and managing daily operations to meet business goals. The position offers opportunities for internal growth and requires a hands-on approach to management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead team of heavy equipment operators, laborers, and landfill personnel to meet daily operation needs.
  • Help develop and execute safety goals.
  • Conduct field inspections and audits of all site personnel to ensure proper work procedures.
  • Receive and review customer complaints regarding collections programs.
  • Formulate both short-term and long-term goals and action plans for site growth.
  • Participate in regular P&L reviews to ensure budgets for labor and material costs are met.
  • Oversee a variety of complex compliance programs, including environmental, DOT, OSHA, and local permitting.

Requirements

  • Previous leadership experience in a heavy equipment setting.
  • 2 or more years of managing in a people-driven environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA guidelines.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel/Word and the ability to learn and use company specialized applications.
  • Must be detail-oriented, highly accountable, and able to prioritize tasks.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or relevant experience.
