About the position

The LFG Project Manager will lead and build a team of landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS) technicians in Charlotte, NC. This role focuses on the operation and maintenance of GCCS, compliance monitoring, and optimization of gas quality for beneficial use. The manager will be responsible for business growth in the Carolinas, mentoring staff, and managing projects to provide sustainable solutions for solid waste clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and build a team of GCCS technicians.
  • Perform routine operation and maintenance (O&M) at landfill flare stations.
  • Troubleshoot system components and monitor compliance as part of air permitting programs.
  • Collect and maintain sensitive data, providing data reports.
  • Manage internal and external company resources, including consultants and contractors.
  • Organize and execute routine communications with the area team and management.
  • Support air program/permit engineers and environmental managers in resolving regulatory issues.
  • Supervise and mentor LFG Technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or HS Diploma/GED with five years of relevant experience.
  • Five years of relevant work experience in landfill gas GCCS O&M, project management, or the waste industry.
  • LFG Technician Certificate (preferred).
  • High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipe fusion certification (preferred).
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Proven technical project management skills.
  • Team player motivated toward career growth and learning.
  • Exceptional communication and reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of GCCS design, construction, and operations.
  • Understanding of state and federal regulations impacting GCCS operations.
  • Ability to optimize GCCS performance.
  • Familiarity with landfill gas collection and combustion devices.
  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Excel and Word).
  • Excellent mechanical and technical skills (plumbing/electrical).
  • Proficiency in blower/flare operations and environmental regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and instrumentation (preferred).
  • Ability to travel, including some overnight travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant industry or state certifications (e.g., SWANA, NWRA).
  • Basic knowledge of PLC and electrical skills.
