About The Position

The Operator - Heavy Equipment is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy machinery at a recycling center, landfill, or transfer station. This role involves transferring, spreading, covering, loading, and compacting waste or soil while adhering to safety standards and company policies. The operator must ensure equipment readiness, perform inspections, and maintain a clean work environment.

Requirements

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Good customer service skills to meet and exceed customer expectations.
• Good time management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
• Ability to adhere to company policies and promote safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with Company policy.
• Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, and front-end loaders.
• Continuously monitor waste for unacceptable materials.
• Monitor the condition of the equipment to ensure operational readiness.
• Perform and document minor service on equipment and report major issues to Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and report necessary repairs to the supervisor.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure the shop is clean and serviced at the end of each shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
