About the position

McAdams is seeking an energetic Landscape Architect to join our Planning + Design team in the Dallas-Fort Worth, TX office. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to lead the pursuit and execution of projects primarily serving public clients, including parks, recreation, municipal improvements, civic buildings, and urban design projects. The selected candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality designs, construction documents, and engaging with clients and stakeholders to create meaningful community experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead high quality project pursuits and request for qualifications proposals by collaborating with planning and design, marketing, and other teams.
  • Provide design direction for site planning and conceptual design at various scales and project types such as parks & recreation, municipal improvements, civic buildings, and urban design.
  • Guide the application of development ordinances and codes to designs to seek development approval.
  • Lead the delivery of high-quality construction documents, bid packages, and cost estimates.
  • Manage project delivery including schedule management and internal/external coordination.
  • Collaborate with and lead teams of planners, designers, and other professionals as a project manager, maintaining key contact with clients.
  • Deliver presentations to elected officials, advisory boards, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive community engagement plans.
  • Provide input on strategic planning goals that advance the firm's growth in a national practice.
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Travel for projects, training, and company events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program.
  • Registered Landscape Architect in the state of TX.
  • 6-10 years of working experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suites (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.), and Sketch-up.
  • Ability to work within a collaborative team environment and communicate effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with hand drawing of layouts and site plans for preliminary submittals.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in community engagement and public presentations.
  • Familiarity with municipal improvement projects.
