About the position

The Landscape Architect/Ecological Restoration Design position involves working on ecological analysis and design projects related to streams, wetlands, and other natural features. The role focuses on helping clients comply with ecological regulations through restoration projects, including stream and wetland restoration. Responsibilities include environmental resource characterization, impact assessments, design documentation, and project permitting, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and communication with clients and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ecological analysis and design projects involving streams and wetlands.
  • Perform site inspections and field data collection.
  • Characterize environmental resources and perform impact and mitigation assessments.
  • Prepare design documents and technical specifications for construction plans.
  • Support project permitting and compliance monitoring post-construction.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, permitting agencies, and public officials.
  • Manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture, natural resource management, ecology, or related field.
  • Michigan landscape architect license or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Professional experience in ecological design.
  • Experience preparing construction plans including grading and planting plans.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and experience writing technical specifications.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's or advanced degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in ecological design.
  • Experience with green infrastructure design and sustainable practices.
  • Experience conducting wetland impact assessments and restoration design.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS software and artistic rendering software like Adobe Creative Suite.
