About the position

The Landscape Architect Project Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the implementation of the City's Parks Master Plan, preparing project environmental documentation, and overseeing the construction of park projects. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, managing project budgets, and ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the implementation of the City's Parks Master Plan.
  • Prepare project environmental documentation on a project-by-project basis.
  • Prepare construction plans and specifications, cost estimates, and materials lists for landscaping irrigation systems and playgrounds.
  • Perform inspection of park construction work and prepare field notes.
  • Participate in the development of park construction budgets.
  • Conduct landscape architectural work in the study, design, and preparation of preliminary and final working drawings and plans for park areas and other City-owned facilities.
  • Produce construction documents for landscape capital improvement projects.
  • Produce site plans, elevations, planting, landscape grading, drainage, structural details, irrigation, plumbing, signage, pavement, and landscape lighting systems.
  • Prepare cost estimates for projects and assist in budget preparation and administration.
  • Perform plan checks and coordinate, supervise, and inspect construction.
  • Act as project manager for assigned projects from conception through implementation.
  • Lead multi-discipline teams from design through construction.
  • Coordinate with outside consultants such as engineers and architects.
  • Confer with professional service providers, suppliers, contractors, and vendors in the coordination of plans and acquisition of materials.
  • Attend and present plans at community and citizen meetings; respond to public questions and concerns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of responsible landscape design or project coordination experience, including management responsibilities for public space operations.
  • Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license.
  • Possession of a valid Registration as a Landscape Architect issued by the State of California Architects Board.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in project coordination in a public sector environment.
  • Familiarity with community engagement and public presentation skills.
