About the position

The Landscape Architect at Thomas & Hutton will play a crucial role in expanding the Nashville office by managing and contributing to various landscape architecture projects. This position involves collaboration within a multidisciplinary team, focusing on project management, design, and client interaction, while also providing mentorship to junior staff. The role offers opportunities for professional growth in a dynamic and client-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Project management including coordination with clients, design teams, permitting jurisdictions, and contractors.
  • Design activities including schematic design, design development, and construction-level documentation.
  • Preparation of construction plans, including planting and hardscape plans, specifications, reports, studies, cost estimates, and permit applications.
  • Master planning and detailed design activities as both a project manager and contributor.
  • Mentoring and providing technical oversight to junior and mid-level staff.
  • Engaging in business development activities such as networking, proposal preparation, interviewing, and fee negotiation.
  • Preparation and review of deliverables including reports, cost estimates, renderings, plans, and specifications.
  • Miscellaneous tasks to assist the project team as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in landscape architecture from an accredited university or college.
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Landscape Architect, including experience with planning and design of communities, parks, and streetscapes.
  • Registration as a Landscape Architect is required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to lead presentations in public and private settings.
  • Experience leading projects through design review and public approval processes is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated experience with industry software applications such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Adobe Design Suite, Sketch-up, Lumion, and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Land and site planning design experience highly preferred.
  • Flexibility to travel for job duties as required.
