About the position

The Landscape Architectural Designer position at our award-winning Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning practice in New York City offers an exciting opportunity for a talented design professional to contribute to a dynamic portfolio of environmentally and socially impactful projects. The firm is recognized for its design excellence, ecological sensitivity, and technical innovation, and it leverages its expertise in planning and landscape architecture to address critical issues such as climate change, resiliency, and open space equity. The Designer will work closely with clients and project teams, drawing upon their passion for ecology and sustainability, as well as their experience with waterfront or wetland environments, to elevate design across various disciplines and markets. In this role, the Designer will be responsible for fostering a culture of design excellence throughout the practice, collaborating with team members to build on the firm's successes as a top design practice. They will develop and maintain strong client relationships, assist with project pursuits, and represent the firm as a key designer. The Designer will craft project work plans, delegate design tasks, and ensure that projects progress on time and within budget. This position requires a commitment to quality and innovation in landscape architecture, as well as the ability to lead projects through all phases of design and construction administration. Responsibilities

  • Provide clear vision and direction for innovative and responsive landscape design regionally and nationally.
  • Collaborate closely with clients and project teams to elevate design quality.
  • Foster a culture of design excellence throughout the practice in collaboration with team members.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships and assist with project pursuits.
  • Represent the firm as a key designer in various projects.
  • Craft project work plans and delegate design tasks to ensure project progress.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Lead the development of construction documents and oversee all phases of design through construction administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master of Landscape Architecture preferred.
  • Licensed Landscape Architect with current registration preferred.
  • Passion for design quality and new developments in the field.
  • Excellent graphic and verbal communication skills (English fluency).
  • Emotional intelligence to operate effectively in client-facing and internal leadership roles.
  • Ability to craft project work plans, delegate design tasks, and ensure project progress is on time and within budget.
  • Experience with all phases of design through construction administration; ability to lead development of construction documents.
  • Strong proficiency with ArcPro / ArcGIS, AutoCAD, 3D modelling, visualization and creating presentations (Rhino, Lumion, Grasshopper, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Experience with public agency/municipal submissions and approvals preferred.
  • LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.
  • Driver's license a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with waterfront or wetland environments.
  • Familiarity with sustainable design practices.
