About the position

Landscape Architecture Bureau [LAB] is seeking an entry-level designer to join our dynamic team in Washington, DC. As a well-established design firm, LAB is dedicated to creating original and memorable places while promoting biodiversity. This position is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with approximately one year of experience who are passionate about landscape architecture and eager to contribute to meaningful projects. The role involves working on a diverse range of projects, with a historical mix of approximately 50% private mixed-use developments, 30% public projects such as parks, library grounds, and schools, along with various other unique assignments. We are looking for designers who are committed to maintaining the highest design standards and possess the necessary form-making and collaboration skills to bring these projects to fruition. The ideal candidate will have a personality that is curious, engaged, resourceful, energetic, and generous, complemented by a sense of humor and intelligence. Our team members frequently visit project sites, so candidates should either reside in the DC area or be willing to relocate. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of landscape architecture projects.
  • Collaborate with senior designers and project managers on various project types.
  • Participate in site visits and project assessments.
  • Contribute to the preparation of design presentations and documentation.
  • Engage in research and analysis to support design decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or related field.
  • 1 year of experience in landscape design or related work (internships included).
  • Strong design and graphic skills, including proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice-to-haves
