About the position

AECOM is seeking a Landscape Architecture Designer III to be based in NYC. This role is integral to our Landscape Architecture and Urban Design portfolio, which encompasses a wide array of urban-based, multidisciplinary public realm projects. These projects include plazas, streetscapes, parks, waterfronts, infrastructure, urban design plans, master-planning, green infrastructure, and ecological restoration. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with design studio leadership and project design teams, working alongside project landscape architects, managers, and designers to design and assist in the execution of projects within the New York City metropolitan area, as well as nationally and internationally. The projects in our studio are design-driven and require close collaboration with engineers, planners, cost estimators, and other technical consultants. In this position, the Landscape Architecture Designer III will be expected to perform advanced technical assignments of varying complexities under the direction of Studio Leadership and the Technical Landscape Architecture Leader. Responsibilities will include preparing specifications, reports, and related data tables, as well as performing basic architectural and engineering calculations. The designer will maintain liaison with design and drafting groups, prepare, review, and approve drawings as required, and may coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and departments participating in assigned projects. Additionally, the designer may assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel, contributing to the overall development of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform advanced technical assignments of various complexities within approved schedules and budgets under the direction of Studio Leadership and Technical Landscape Architecture Leader.
  • Prepare specifications, reports, and related data tables, and perform basic architectural/engineering calculations.
  • Maintain liaison with design and drafting groups.
  • Prepare, review, and approve drawings as required.
  • Coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and departments participating on an assigned project.
  • Assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.

Requirements

  • BA/BS plus (4) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • 6 years of professional experience as a Landscape Architect working on a variety of projects including residential, corporate, and institutional campuses.
  • Experience directing the work and production of entry-level team members.
  • Experience delivering projects from concept design through final construction document and specification sets.
  • Construction Administration experience.
  • NY Landscape Architect license is highly preferred.
  • Experience developing proposals (RFP's) as a Landscape Architect.
  • Experience working on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Professional experience with Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop, and AutoCAD.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with green infrastructure and ecological restoration projects.
  • Familiarity with urban design plans and master-planning.
