About the position

The Adjunct Speech Instructor position at Lanier Technical College is a part-time, temporary role focused on teaching speech courses across various campus locations. The instructor is responsible for preparing and delivering course content, evaluating student performance, and ensuring that course objectives are met. This role requires a Master's degree in a relevant field and involves working evenings as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach classes as assigned based on approved course syllabus.
  • Ensure that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives.
  • Prepare curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught.
  • Evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Administer and grade class examinations.
  • Maintain records of student grades.
  • Attend in-service training, workshops, and seminars as needed.
  • Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training areas.
  • Meet all required deadlines and complete all required trainings.
  • Meet with students, staff members, and supervisors as needed.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with 18 graduate semester hours in Speech.
  • Skill in developing lesson outlines and materials.
  • Knowledge of vocational area of assignment.
  • Skill in presenting subject matter.
  • Skill in administering tests to evaluate progress.
  • Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of student information systems.
