Responsibilities

  • Safely operate all types of large equipment including material handling cranes, hydraulic excavators, loaders, yard semi-trucks, switch engines, backhoes, and dozers.
  • Maintain general equipment appearance and perform routine maintenance checks.
  • Identify and communicate any quality, environmental, or production-related concerns.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient overall operations while providing high-quality customer service.
  • Prepare various documents and reports, weigh packages, and perform material inspections for all loads.
  • Distinguish between grades and types of scrap materials and understand customer specifications.
  • Maximize the value of different grades of materials during operations.
  • Perform pre-inspection checks and monitor equipment during operation.
  • Troubleshoot and notify management of any malfunctions that occur during operation.
  • Complete all required operating documents.

Requirements

  • Six months of experience operating large equipment such as loaders, backhoes, excavators, skid steers, dozers, and hi-los preferred.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance and vehicle repair experience, particularly with brakes, engines, rotors, and transmissions is highly useful but not required.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical principles.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with accuracy in operation and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in brake repair and mechanical knowledge.
  • Customer service experience.
