About the position

The Large-Format Graphic Designer will be responsible for creating high-quality designs for large-scale print applications, including banners, vehicle wraps, signage, wall graphics, and trade show displays. This role requires a strong understanding of design principles and printing processes, particularly for large-format outputs, and involves collaboration with sales teams, clients, and production staff to deliver effective visual designs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop custom designs for wide-format print projects such as vehicle wraps, banners, signs, and exhibits.
  • Prepare and optimize files for wide-format printing, ensuring color accuracy, bleed, resolution, and proper file formats.
  • Work closely with the sales team, clients, and production staff to understand project needs and translate them into effective visual designs.
  • Use industry-standard software like Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and RIP software to create print-ready files.
  • Understand the properties of various printing materials such as vinyl, fabric, mesh, and other substrates used in wide-format production.
  • Review proofs, conduct pre-production checks, and monitor the printing process to ensure the final product matches the intended design.
  • Occasionally meet with clients to discuss design concepts, provide feedback, and make adjustments based on their needs.
  • Stay updated on design trends and printing technologies to offer innovative solutions and creative ideas.
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously, managing deadlines and prioritizing tasks to ensure timely delivery.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in graphic design, preferably in a large-format print environment.
  • High School diploma required; bachelor's degree in graphic design, fine arts, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and knowledge of wide-format printing processes.
  • High level of accuracy in creating print-ready files, ensuring proper scaling and placement for large formats.
  • Knowledge of printing hardware, RIP software, and familiarity with color management and ICC profiles preferred.
  • Ability to create visually compelling designs that align with client goals and brand guidelines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate design concepts and coordinate with team members and clients.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with color management and ICC profiles.
  • Experience in troubleshooting design issues, including color correction, image resolution, and file formatting.
