About the position

The Large Loss Property Field Claim Adjuster role at American Family Insurance involves investigating and managing complex property claims, primarily in the field. Responsibilities

• Investigate origin and cause of high exposure claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, and other relevant parties.
• Participate in High Damage Reviews (HDR) to address coverage issues and exposure.
• Handle both 1st party and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
• Conduct on-site inspections and evaluate damages as needed.
• Negotiate claims with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters.
• Respond to customer inquiries and provide claim process updates.
• Interpret and determine policies and coverages for assigned losses.
• Make independent decisions while recognizing when assistance is needed.
• Mentor and serve as a subject matter expert for less experienced adjusters.

Requirements

• 5 or more years' experience handling field property personal lines claims required.
• Demonstrated ability to handle 1st party claims across operating territories.
• Extensive knowledge of policies and endorsements coverages.
• Successfully applied knowledge of each phase of the claim handling process.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
• Obtain state specific property casualty claims licensing as required.
