About the position

Larkin Precision is seeking an experienced Laser Operator specializing in Fiber Cutting to join our team in Kent, WA. As a leader in precision grinding operations, we cater to various industries, including aerospace, while also diversifying beyond the local economy. This position is crucial as it involves operating a high-precision, nitrogen-cooled fiber laser, which is state-of-the-art technology in the industry. The Laser Operator will be responsible for the complete cycle of cutting, which includes CAD and nesting work, through to the cutting, separating, and sorting processes. Given the nature of our work, we handle very expensive stainless steel, and thus, prior laser cutting experience is a requirement for this role. The work environment at Larkin Precision is safety-sensitive, and we maintain a drug-free workplace. As part of our hiring process, we require pre-employment drug testing, including testing for marijuana. This is a full-time, permanent position with a standard workweek of 40 hours, plus potential overtime. The regular working hours are Monday through Friday, from 6 AM to 2:30 PM. Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively (spoken and written) to managers.
  • Operate the laser cutting machine and run production parts.
  • Measure parts with supplied inspection equipment.
  • Monitor productivity and count parts produced.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized work area.
  • Show parts to co-workers for First Article Inspection.
  • Learn to operate new equipment as requested.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous CAD/CAM experience, including laser programming and cut paths.
  • Ability to listen and learn effectively.
  • Legible handwriting and simple arithmetic skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and basic mechanical understanding.
  • Ability to stand for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug tests.

Nice-to-haves

  • Forklift certification (preferred).
  • 1-3 months related experience or training.
