About the position

The Lathe Operator at Ohio Ordnance Works plays a crucial role in the manufacturing of high-quality firearm components. This position involves working within a dynamic team to ensure production activities are executed efficiently and in accordance with defined standards. The operator will utilize various machinery, participate in process improvements, and maintain quality systems while adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture complex gun components utilizing 3 axis Mills, 2 axis Lathes, and assembly equipment.
  • Ensure the process operates in accordance with defined standards.
  • Follow set production schedule, and report any problems to the Team Lead.
  • Conduct in-process inspection utilizing Mics, Calipers, Indicators, Mahr systems.
  • Maintain quality system by following ISO standard practices.
  • Perform tool change/tool setting in accordance with set procedures.
  • Apply tool wear offsets to ensure the highest quality of parts.
  • Deburr parts as needed and provide feedback when applicable.
  • Operate multiple machines as needed.
  • Assist with improvement-related projects, questions, and solving problems as needed.
  • Participate in department responses to corrective actions and preventative actions.
  • Perform routine safety, quality, and work skills training.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR.
  • This position requires the successful candidate to not be a prohibited person under the Gun Control Act (GCA), codified at 18 U.S.C. § 922(g).

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ year of experience working in an industrial environment.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Some understanding of manufacturing processes used in the machining department.
