About the position

The Latin America Research Analyst position at ISS involves conducting governance research and proxy analyses for publicly-traded companies in the Brazilian and Latin American markets. This role is temporary, starting in January 2025 and ending in early May 2025, with expectations for long hours and weekend work during peak periods. The analyst will be responsible for analyzing company filings, drafting reports, and making proxy vote recommendations based on ISS policy guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct governance research and proxy analyses for shareholder meetings of publicly-traded companies in Latin America.
  • Read and understand company filings with regulators and SEC filings to extract relevant financial and governance information.
  • Draft analyses and issue proxy vote recommendations based on ISS policy guidelines.
  • Ensure accurate data collection regarding company financials, directors' profiles, remuneration data, and auditor fees for proxy analysis reports.
  • Write timely and accurate reports in accordance with ISS procedures and policy guidelines.

Requirements

  • Fluency in Portuguese and English (reading, writing, and speaking) is required.
  • Strong analytical abilities and some knowledge of corporate governance issues.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with data information and a self-driven work ethic.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends during peak weeks (March & April).
  • Ability to work within a team-oriented environment and communicate with various internal parties.
  • Familiarity with Latin American countries' regulators and stock exchanges.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in governance, accounting, law, or other corporate fields preferred.
  • Relevant work experience in governance or corporate fields.
