About the position

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. The position is for a Launch Engineer in Spacecraft Integration, focusing on payloads.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support to the following efforts: Starlink satellite integration, and customer payload integration
  • Develop and execute procedures for the checkout and integration of Starlink satellites, commercial/government spacecraft integration, and ground support equipment maintenance
  • Closely collaborate with engineering staff and highly skilled technicians on a daily basis
  • Manage and track multiple priorities while maintaining a focus towards common project goals
  • Manage the driving of non-conformances into actionable items and system improvements reflected in work instructions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical and/or fluid systems (class projects and/or internship experience qualifies)

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: launch vehicle or spacecraft integration; operations in 100,000 class or better clean rooms; test operations with gases/fluids; data acquisition setup and field measurements
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, a meticulous attention to detail, an emphasis on safety, cleanliness, adherence to corporate policies and standards, a great attitude, and the ability to work with a team
  • Experience in writing test plans and test procedures
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, autonomously driven, and demanding start-up atmosphere
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to work well with a wide range of people across multiple organizations, including mission management, customers, and vendors
  • Professional experience testing and operating with or around hazardous systems (high pressure, high energy, hazardous gases/fluids, etc.)
