About the position

This position will be primarily focused on aerospace products and is in line with an Aerospace Qualification Test Engineer. The Launch Validation Engineer II is responsible for validation test planning and execution for launch programs and assist in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of laboratory testing input and output requirements. They will own the technical interface between Corporate Labs and launch personnel (Engineering, Program Management, and Quality).

Responsibilities

  • Identify and define customer Design and Process Validation requirements.
  • Construct Program Engineering Development, Design Validation, HALT, and Process Validation test plans.
  • Assure test schedules are kept up to date and timeliness of test completion.
  • Work with launch teams and corporate labs personnel to ensure product and lab readiness for testing.
  • Identify and arrange for special testing requirements (software, hardware, etc.) in preparation for new testing.
  • Coordinate resolution of test lab failures by conducting regular reviews and ensuring appropriate action using GCS (Gentex Concern System).
  • Support engineering and quality teams in discussion of specific validation issues with customers.
  • Conduct program specific reviews of test planning and testing status with laboratory personnel and launch teams.
  • Establish and maintain metrics for Launch Validation Engineering group.
  • Participate in lab continuous improvement activities.
  • Identify and create pre-qual and qual plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Witness most or all of the qual testing, ensuring the procedures are followed.
  • Work with the aerospace customer in the development of the plans and procedures.
  • Support AS9100 Audits and other aerospace customer audits as needed.
  • Support medical and fire protection industries as secondary responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in a lab environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be detail/factual/accuracy minded.
  • In-depth knowledge of testing procedures and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to travel domestically.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
