About the position

As a Laundry Worker at the Sheraton Detroit Novi Hotel, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient retrieval, processing, and distribution of laundry services to our guests. This position is essential for maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and service that our hotel is known for. The hotel operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which means that operational demands may require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week. You will be responsible for sorting all stained or damaged items, determining their status for rewash or discard, and maintaining a continuous inventory of discarded items. In addition to sorting, you will operate ironing and folding machines according to specifications, processing cleaned articles through these machines. Your duties will also include folding cleaned articles and stacking them into designated amounts by type and size, ensuring that stacks are placed in specified areas for distribution. You will need to remove lint and debris from dryer filters as specified in departmental procedures and use cleaning chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and hotel requirements. Monitoring the working condition and cleanliness of laundry machinery is also part of your responsibilities, as is maintaining cleanliness and organization of work areas throughout your shift. You will restock work areas for the next shift as assigned and ensure that all lost and found items and guest room keys are turned in. Adhering to all company policies and procedures, following safety and security procedures, and utilizing protective equipment are essential aspects of this role. You will also be expected to report any unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, or property damage to management. Overall, this position requires a commitment to providing a safe work environment and maintaining a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Report accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage or loss to management.
  • Provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.
  • Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance as per team member handbook standards.
  • Perform any related duties as requested by supervisor/manager.
  • Assist other Housekeeping Personnel when needed.
