About the position

The Anoka County Attorney's Office is seeking law clerks to support its mission of upholding the laws of Minnesota and serving justice. This position offers law students a unique opportunity to gain practical legal experience while working on a variety of cases in the Criminal, Juvenile, and Civil Divisions. Law clerks will conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and participate in court hearings, providing valuable support to attorneys and contributing to the community's safety and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate legal efforts for attorneys.
  • Write and review legal documents.
  • Maintain legal documentation database.
  • Schedule meetings and legal clinics.
  • Ensure necessary materials are prepared beforehand.
  • Conduct legal research and pull cases.
  • Proofread and cite-check briefs and other materials.
  • Assist with preparation and filing of court papers, depositions, interviews, hearings, and client meetings.
  • Organize and maintain physical and digital case files.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a current student in good standing at an accredited law school.
  • Must be eligible for certification under Minnesota Supreme Court Student Practice Rules.
  • Successfully pass criminal history background check which includes fingerprinting.
