About the position

SGI Global is seeking experienced Law Enforcement Instructors to provide training for the United States Capitol Police (USCP). The role involves delivering entry-level and in-service training to sworn and civilian employees, including supervisors and command staff. Instructors will prepare course materials, evaluate student performance, and continuously improve training programs based on research and departmental policies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver course materials including content, sequence, timing, presentation, and instructional methodology.
  • Rate and score students, officers, and officials participating in training programs, determining their qualification status.
  • Analyze training policies and processes, recommending necessary revisions based on validated research and industry standards.
  • Research and analyze relevant case law for course content, evaluating and revising as necessary.
  • Write and prepare lesson plans, course materials, evaluations, and management recommendations accurately and concisely.
  • Adjust course lesson plans as necessary to accommodate changes in law enforcement procedures and techniques.
  • Evaluate and advise on students' progress through observation and testing.
  • Stay updated on literature and materials in assigned training areas, evaluating new instructional aids and participating in workshops and seminars.
  • Perform administrative support duties such as class scheduling, coordination, record keeping, and property management.

Requirements

  • Must have successfully completed the Federal Law Enforcement Center's (FLETC) Law Enforcement Instructor Training Program (LEITP) or equivalent.
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Police Science, or equivalent.
  • Must have at least 10 years of experience in law enforcement, with 5 years of instructor experience substituting for education (1 year of experience = 1 year of collegiate education).
  • Preference for Federal Law Enforcement Officer experience and/or Law Enforcement Instructor experience; military or security experience does not substitute for law enforcement experience.
  • Instructors should have knowledge and training experience in various law enforcement fields including contact stops, domestic violence, probable cause, use of force, firearms, emergency response, and more.
