About the position

The Law Enforcement Investigator II position is part of the Office of the Attorney General within the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit in West Palm Beach, Florida. This role requires a state-certified law enforcement officer responsible for investigating Medicaid fraud, enforcing applicable laws, and safeguarding patient rights. The investigator will conduct independent investigations, collect evidence, and prepare reports for judicial proceedings related to Medicaid fraud and patient abuse.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent investigations of alleged Medicaid fraud and patient abuse.
  • Examine accounts and records of healthcare providers participating in the Medicaid program.
  • Subpoena witnesses and materials as needed for investigations.
  • Make arrests and serve search warrants when applicable.
  • Collect and analyze evidence related to investigations.
  • Conduct interviews with witnesses and potential violators.
  • Prepare detailed reports and exhibits for court testimony.
  • Assist in the prosecution of Medicaid fraud cases.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • No felony convictions or misdemeanors involving perjury or false statements.
  • Must have processed fingerprints on file with the employing agency.
  • Must pass a physical examination by a licensed medical professional.
  • Must have good moral character as determined by a background investigation.
  • Must complete a commission-approved basic recruit training program unless exempt.
  • Must achieve an acceptable score on the officer certification examination.
  • Must comply with continuing training or education requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Healthcare fraud investigative experience in a Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
  • Five years of sworn law enforcement experience.
  • Five years of experience conducting healthcare fraud investigations.
