About the position

The Law Enforcement Liaison Program Coordinator at Foundation 2 Crisis Services is a vital role focused on implementing and overseeing training for new Liaisons in the field. This position requires a dedicated individual who can lead by example, providing joint dispatches and shadowing opportunities for trainees. The Coordinator will assist the Program Manager with quality assurance and field observations of Liaisons on a monthly basis, ensuring that all documentation meets the necessary standards for quality assurance and data collection. Additionally, the Coordinator will play a key role in developing and implementing a standardized manual for the program, making recommendations for effective data collection and coordination among law enforcement departments. The role also involves providing necessary co-response coverage to law enforcement departments when a Liaison is unavailable, ensuring that the program's operations continue smoothly. The Coordinator will work primarily from the Cedar Rapids headquarters but must have the flexibility to travel between Cedar Rapids and Dubuque as needed, covering shifts from 8 AM to 9 PM, Monday through Friday. This position is essential for maintaining the high standards of service that Foundation 2 Crisis Services is known for, as it directly impacts the quality of crisis intervention and support provided to individuals in need. Foundation 2 Crisis Services is a mission-driven, non-profit organization that has been providing critical crisis intervention and prevention services across Iowa for over 50 years. The organization operates a 24/7 crisis center, including phone, text, and chat services, as well as an emergency youth shelter and various community-based crisis programs. The Law Enforcement Liaison Program Coordinator will be part of a dedicated team that is committed to saving lives and making a difference in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Implement extensive field training for new Liaisons, including joint dispatches and shadowing.
  • Assist the Program Manager with quality assurance and field observation of Liaisons on a monthly basis.
  • Review and approve documentation for quality assurance and data collection purposes.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a standardized manual for law enforcement departments.
  • Provide co-response coverage to law enforcement departments when a Liaison is out of the office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a human services field or related field with two years of relevant experience.
  • Two or more years of relevant experience in crisis services or a related area.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Comfort using computer software and basic typing and data entry skills.
  • Excellent writing and grammar skills.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable by the agency auto insurance policy.
  • Reliable, high-speed internet at home or ability to work from the Cedar Rapids office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in crisis services preferred.
  • Education or training in trauma-informed care preferred.
  • Experience in strengths-based practices preferred.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques preferred.
  • Background in motivational interviewing preferred.
  • Knowledge/experience working in the mental health, substance use, and/or problem gambling field preferred.
