About The Position

The Law Student Volunteer position at the Las Vegas Immigration Court offers law students the opportunity to gain practical experience in immigration law by assisting immigration judges. Interns will engage in research and writing tasks under the supervision of an attorney, contributing to the preparation of legal documents and observing immigration hearings. Requirements

  • Current law student in the United States.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Researching and writing for immigration judges.
  • Preparing orders on motions and drafting decisions on applications for relief from removal.
  • Preparing memoranda on complex legal issues.
  • Observing various types of immigration hearings.
  • Meeting with DHS trial attorneys and private attorneys representing noncitizens.
