About The Position

The Law Student Volunteer position at the U.S. Department of Justice offers law students a unique opportunity to engage in significant legal work within the U.S. Attorney's Office. Interns will assist in various aspects of case preparation, gaining hands-on experience in federal criminal and civil law enforcement while contributing to the fair administration of justice.

Requirements

  • Must be a first-year (second semester), second, or third-year law student
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to pass a background investigation

Responsibilities

  • Researching legal issues
  • Drafting and writing motions, responses, and various pleadings
  • Providing trial support
  • Interviewing witnesses
  • Assembling exhibits for trial
  • Attending trials, hearings, attorney conferences, meetings, and other legal proceedings
