About the position

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a dynamic Plant Healthcare Technician to join our passionate team of landscape professionals. This position involves performing fertilization and pest management on trees, shrubs, and lawns using spray and injection tools. The technician will be responsible for properly identifying and diagnosing insects, weeds, fungus conditions, and pest-prone areas. Additionally, the role requires effective communication with clients regarding diagnoses and prescribed pest control and fertilization services. Continuous monitoring of plant health quality and fertilizing methods after application is essential, along with communicating progress to customers and supervisors. The technician will also be required to drive, use, maintain, and properly operate equipment such as trucks and sprayers.

Responsibilities

  • Properly identify and diagnose insects, weeds, fungus conditions and pest prone areas.
  • Communicate with and educate the client regarding the diagnosis and the prescribed pest control and fertilization service.
  • Continuously monitor plant health quality and fertilizing methods after application and communicate progress to customers and supervisors.
  • Drive, use, maintain and properly operate equipment (truck and sprayer).

Requirements

  • Love of the outdoors
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to complete the Davey landscape career development books upon hire
  • Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in Horticulture or Landscaping
  • Turf, Weed, Tree and shrub ID knowledge
  • Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
