About the position

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) at Bassett Medical Center plays a crucial role in the outpatient psychiatry treatment team, focusing on improving patient health through comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, and evidence-based therapies. This position emphasizes a patient-centered approach, addressing complex bio-psychosocial needs while adhering to established protocols and regulations. The LCSW will also provide supervision to LMSW/LCSW staff and participate in departmental meetings and objectives.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychotherapy on an outpatient basis to individuals, couples, families, and/or groups.
• Complete comprehensive assessments/diagnostic formulations and preliminary treatment plan goals, objectives, and methods.
• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
• Document all patient contacts according to NYS Office of Mental Health requirements.
• Perform acute/crisis evaluations and coordinate psychiatric hospitalization as needed.
• Provide psychoeducation to patients and families.
• Facilitate referrals for medication evaluations, inpatient psychiatric hospitalizations, and community support services.
• Communicate with patients and other treating providers to coordinate treatment plan goals and objectives.
• Participate in case conference treatment team meetings.
• Treat patients, colleagues, and other staff with cooperation, compassion, and respect.
• Conduct self in a manner consistent with ethical standards of practice in the field.
• Participate in the Utilization Review Process.
• Collaborate with outside agencies, such as CPS/DSS.
• Perform other duties as requested and observed by supervisor or manager.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Social Work, required.
• Minimum of 2 years of post Master's Degree experience, preferred.
• Current NYS Licensure as an LCSW within 3 months of hire, required.
• Skills in adaptability, communication, attention to detail, computer skills, counseling, interacting with people, maintaining files, maintaining confidentiality, and time management.
