About the position

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) position involves providing comprehensive counseling services to clients facing various social, emotional, and vocational challenges. The LCSW will perform individual, marital, couples, group, and crisis intervention counseling, ensuring that all clinical records are accurate, current, and compliant with the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) licensing regulations. This role requires the LCSW to work under the general supervision of the Clinical Director, who will oversee the clinical practices and ensure adherence to ethical standards and legal requirements set forth by Winchester Community Mental Health Center, Inc. In addition to direct counseling, the LCSW will be responsible for informing the Clinical Director of any relevant clinical and liability issues in a timely manner, making recommendations for procedural changes as necessary. The position also entails coordinating all counseling services for clients and assisting in the implementation of these services. The LCSW will be expected to maintain up-to-date client files and collect demographic data to support the center's statistical needs. Furthermore, the LCSW will supervise practicum students and provide license-qualifying post-degree supervision to staff counselors as assigned by the Director. The role requires a strong commitment to ethical counseling practices and the ability to form and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with clients. The LCSW will also act as a liaison between clients and community resources, ensuring that clients receive the support they need to navigate their challenges effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual, couples, group, and crisis counseling relative to personal and social problems.
  • Provides outreach workshops and lectures.
  • Maintains up-to-date files on clients.
  • Supervises practicum students as appropriate to level of training.
  • Provides license-qualifying post-degree supervision to Staff Counselors as assigned by Director.
  • Consults with faculty and staff concerning student needs.
  • Collects demographic data to maintain statistics on center usage.
  • Acts as liaison between client and community resources as needed.
  • Responsible for establishing job standards for subordinate staff and effectively evaluating staff under charge.

Requirements

  • License eligible in Virginia as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or currently licensed in Virginia as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
  • Knowledge of modern counseling practices and methods and adherence to existing professional ethical standards.
  • Ability to form and maintain effective counseling relationships with clients.
  • Ability to monitor client movement in the therapy process and terminate the relationship appropriately.
  • Ability to plan, implement, evaluate, and report activities.
  • Ability to supervise employees, providing direct training when needed.
