About the position

Kalinin Aviation is seeking an experienced Lead A&P Mechanic to coordinate the daily activities of our maintenance crew in Juneau, AK. This position is crucial for ensuring that our aircraft and components are maintained in a safe and airworthy condition, adhering to the highest standards of safety and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in leading maintenance teams and a thorough understanding of the equipment used in our 135 operations. As the Lead A&P Mechanic, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily work of aircraft mechanics, ensuring that all tasks are prioritized and scheduled effectively. You will perform necessary repairs and preventive maintenance on aircraft, utilizing your expertise to maintain adequate general hand tools and equipment. Your role will also involve providing quality control surveillance and on-the-job training as directed by the Director of Maintenance (DOM). In addition to supervising scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs, you will work in accordance with the Manufacturer's Maintenance Manual, Alaska Seaplanes approved maintenance program, and Federal Aviation Regulations. You will be tasked with repairing or replacing a wide variety of aircraft components, parts, and accessories, ensuring that all aircraft released for return to service have the required documentation on board. Completing in-flight evaluations with a pilot following maintenance or repair work will also be part of your responsibilities, along with updating the Aircraft Maintenance Status daily and performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily work of aircraft mechanics.
  • Ensure Alaska Seaplanes Aircraft and components are safe and airworthy.
  • Perform necessary repairs and preventive maintenance on aircraft.
  • Maintain adequate general hand tools for duties.
  • Direct the work of other aircraft mechanics by prioritizing and setting daily work schedules.
  • Provide quality control surveillance and on-the-job training as necessary as directed by the DOM.
  • Help develop in-house procedures to assure aircraft and components are in a safe and airworthy condition.
  • Supervise and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspection, and repairs.
  • Work in accordance with the Manufacturer's Maintenance Manual, Alaska Seaplanes approved maintenance program, and Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Repair or replace a wide variety of aircraft components, parts, and accessories.
  • Ensure all aircraft released for return to service have all required documents on board.

  • Update Aircraft Maintenance Status daily.

Requirements

  • Experience running a maintenance crew in aviation.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations and Manufacturer's Maintenance Manual.
  • Ability to prioritize and set daily work schedules for mechanics.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with 135 operations is ideal.
  • Additional certifications in aircraft maintenance or related fields.
