About the position

The A/V Design Engineer at Teledata Technologies is responsible for translating Audio Visual systems into viable designs that enable the company to deliver functioning systems to clients. This role requires a strong technical authority to support various teams, including Sales, Programming, CAD, Integration, and Installation, ensuring that designs are effectively brought to life. The position is based in Reno and is not remote, emphasizing collaboration and communication with clients and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize A/V systems designs from scratch for Teledata client companies
  • Interface and maintain ongoing dialogue for projects with Clients, Sales, Tech Ops, and purchasing team members
  • Provide documentation for quotes and bid packages detailing equipment, cost, labor estimates, pre-installation requirements, and site survey results
  • Develop detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) and infrastructure drawings using tools such as Bluebeam, Visio, and CAD
  • Create final engineering drawings for rack layout, system wiring, and custom plates or cabling assemblies
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technology that fits client budgets without sacrificing quality or reliability
  • Demonstrate installation techniques to support the installation team
  • Assist in the preparation of consultant specified bids and submittals
  • Perform client site visits for initial surveys and ongoing technical assessments
  • Assist the programmer with technical direction and support for Crestron, QSC, Biamp, or BSS programming
  • Create and manage change orders to maintain or increase project profitability
  • Assist with technical oversight and design questions during integration and commissioning of systems
  • Capture field markups and assist with generating As-Built drawing sets for the final design package

Requirements

  • CTS-D and/or CTS-I certification
  • 5+ years' experience in AV systems design
  • Thorough understanding of systems integration techniques
  • Proven experience developing a detailed BOM for fully functioning AV systems designs
  • Skilled in the use of Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Visio
  • Knowledge of or desire to learn about networking systems design and operation
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • OSHA 10 certification and valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
