About the position

The Lead Accountant for External Reporting & Technical Accounting is responsible for overseeing all aspects of external financial reporting, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, and managing the coordination of audits. This role involves conducting technical accounting research, preparing financial statements, and documenting accounting policies while collaborating with various teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage preparation and coordination of monthly/quarterly/annual internal and external reporting packages
  • Manage financial statement audit and coordinate with external audit teams
  • Identify, research, and document the Company's technical accounting transactions; work proactively with external auditors to drive timely closure of technical accounting matters
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on US GAAP and GAAP reporting requirements
  • Conduct technical accounting research on complex transactions and new accounting pronouncements
  • Prepare and document accounting policy positions, procedures and control environment and communicate positions to the broader Finance and Accounting teams
  • Evaluate business transactions for proper U.S. GAAP accounting treatment, including accounting and disclosure recommendations and prepare technical memorandums for significant and/or non-routine transactions
  • Assisting with financial due diligence and integration of M&A transactions as needed
  • Review the accounting, monthly journal entries and reconciliations for stock-based compensation, goodwill, investments, and other non-routine transactions
  • Assist with month-end close and financial statement review
  • Ad hoc projects, analysis and reporting as required by management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 6+ years of working experience with at least 4+ years public accounting experience
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Strong technical writing skills and experience in the implementation and handling of complex U.S. GAAP accounting matters
  • Ability to set and keep deadlines at a fast pace while still maintaining high-quality work
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills with extensive experience managing multiple complex assignments simultaneously
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner
