About the position

The Lead Accountant (Projects) at Entergy plays a crucial role in providing business process and technical expertise in various accounting areas. This position involves analyzing accounting processes, developing automation solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance financial systems and reporting. The Lead Accountant is responsible for improving accounting practices through insights, reports, and dashboards, while also mentoring and training team members in accounting tools and processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide insight, reports, dashboards, and recommendations to the Accounting organization to improve processes.
• Analyze the accounting portfolio of CI opportunities and provide insights on integration, progress, and barriers.
• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration on the guidance, support, and implementation of strategic initiatives.
• Perform assignments requiring the understanding of Accounting systems and processes applying process improvement methods and tools.
• Perform challenging analytical procedures to identify and propose automation opportunities.
• Provide targeted financial and accounting expertise to management or cross-functional teams, communicating impacts on current and forecasted financial results.
• Use technical and automation skills to develop automation and data visualization.
• Evaluate challenging accounting and financial implications of contemplated strategic initiatives.
• Understand the system of controls and lend expertise to the development, implementation, testing, and revision of accounting policies, procedures, and systems.
• Collaborate in the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of accounting and financial systems and tools.
• Build and maintain high-level knowledge across all business areas by staying current on initiatives, challenges, and opportunities.
• Participate in industry communications to strengthen subject matter expertise and teach co-workers about emerging technologies and trends.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field; MBA or related advanced degree preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Proficiency with the application of accounting controls and processes; advanced knowledge of Entergy business and processes.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to efficiently use knowledge of tools and business processes to identify problems and resolve issues.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Strong focus on process improvements.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with PeopleSoft, PowerPlan, Cognos, and other reporting and financial solutions.
• Knowledge of cloud computing and artificial intelligence opportunities in Accounting.
