About the position

The Lead Accountant at Trinity Health is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and leading a team to enhance the efficiency of accounting processes. This role involves collaboration with various departments to support financial reporting and operational improvements while maintaining a focus on quality and confidentiality in financial practices.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with leaders from HM, Service Area, Trinity Health, and related entities.
  • Review financial records and statements, including audit requirements for federal awards and other specific audit requirements.
  • Lead the timely implementation of agreed-upon audit recommendations related to areas of responsibility.
  • Prepare annual 990 and other tax returns, supporting community benefit reporting.
  • Prepare sales and use tax reporting, local personal property tax reporting, and other mandatory government surveys.
  • Complete inter-company billing, cash transfers, and reconcile inter-company balances with the system office and other HMs.
  • Lead and mentor staff, planning and participating in staff development activities to enhance their skills.
  • Partner closely with the Manager or Director of Finance to ensure alignment between financial operations and business unit priorities.
  • Serve as a lead accounting resource to support the Finance Management team with reporting activities.
  • Assist with departmental development and maintenance activities, identifying and initiating process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
  • Minimum of five to seven years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • CPA certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience with various computer accounting systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
