About the position
The Lead Accountant is a key member of the finance team, responsible for enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the Finance department and the organization. This role involves overseeing budget management, maintaining the general ledger, and performing account reconciliations. The Lead Accountant also prepares detailed financial reports, ensures compliance with non-profit accounting standards, and collaborates with various departments to support the organization's mission and strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Oversee budget management and maintenance of the general ledger.
- Perform all account reconciliations and prepare detailed financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with non-profit accounting standards.
- Collaborate with various departments to support the organization's mission and strategic objectives.
- Participate in external audits and coordinate semi-annual audits.
- Analyze financial data and statements for discrepancies and revenue enhancement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Nonprofit Finance/Accounting.
- Advanced Excel skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with Great Plains Dynamics finance system.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a high-stress environment.
- Outstanding leadership and communication skills.
