About the position

The Additive Manufacturing Lead Engineer will serve as the technical focal point for various additive manufacturing projects within the Mechanical Engineering and Applied Technology Branch of the Department of the Navy. This role involves identifying applications, creating proposals for implementation, defining system requirements, conducting system analysis, and mentoring team members in technical and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical focal point for additive manufacturing projects.
  • Identify applications and create proposals for implementation of additive manufacturing solutions.
  • Define system requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct system analysis and trade studies.
  • Mentor team members and provide guidance on technical and professional development.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have a professional engineering degree accredited by ABET or equivalent qualifications.
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer in additive manufacturing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
