About the position

The Lead Agilist at Fifth Third Bank plays a crucial role in the Agile Center, focusing on supporting Agile Squads in applying Agile and Scrum principles effectively. This position requires a strong background in Scrum and Agile methodologies, with responsibilities that include coaching teams, facilitating Scrum events, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement. The Lead Agilist is expected to foster a trusting environment, encourage self-organization, and ensure that teams deliver business value while managing risks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Support Agile Squad(s) in understanding and applying Agile and Scrum values and principles.
  • Facilitate Scrum events and activities, ensuring teams realize value from them.
  • Coach the Product Owner and Development Team in effective Product Backlog management.
  • Encourage Agile Squad(s) to solve their own problems with Agile mindsets and team dynamics.
  • Provide objective guidance to Agile Squad(s) without personal or political considerations.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement using data from feedback loops and metrics.
  • Model collaborative and open behavior for Agile Squad(s) and the organization.
  • Shield Agile Squad from external requests to maintain productivity.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of full-time business experience.
  • 3+ years of Scrum experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in presenting, teaching, mentoring, and facilitating at multiple organizational levels.
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal and organizational conflicts effectively.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Test-Driven Development and Continuous Integration/Deployment practices.
  • Knowledge of other Agile frameworks such as Kanban, Scrumban, or XP.
  • Leadership skills demonstrating servant leadership and key mindset shifts associated with agility.
