About the position

The Lead AI Engineer at MetLife will focus on researching, developing, and implementing responsible AI applications to enhance customer service and operational efficiencies. This role involves architecture and design of AI solutions, leading technical decisions, conducting code reviews, and testing language models for optimal performance, all while working within a multidisciplinary team to drive innovation in the insurance and financial services industry.

Responsibilities

• Architecture, design and development of AI applications
• Stay abreast of advancements in the AI and automation market and competitor landscape
• Lead POCs and drive technical decisions for new AI capabilities stack
• Hands-on work with requirements, application architecture, design, code, code-reviews, CI/CD, deployment, and troubleshooting production issues
• Drive new best practices and look for continuous improvements in the delivery process
• Provide estimates for work efforts on new use cases and projects
• Oversight of development work by team members including technical guidance, code review, and design review
• Research, develop, and test various language models against internal benchmarks to identify the most optimal model for the given use case

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in full stack engineering, especially in cloud environments, in a large enterprise
• 5+ years of experience with cloud service providers such as Azure (mandatory), AWS & GCP (preferred)
• Expertise with the DevSecOps processes and driving improvements to Developer Experience
• Two years of experience in applying AI to practical and comprehensive technology solutions
• Experience with GenAI, LLMs, prompt engineering, ML, deep learning, Python, NLP
• Knowledge of basic algorithms, object-oriented and functional design principles, and best-practice patterns
• Experience in C#/.Net Development, REST API development, NoSQL database design, and RDBMS design and optimizations
• Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills with focused attention to details, professionalism and time/task management skills, and ability to establish strong relationships.
