About the position

The Lead Akamai / CDN Engineer at Allstate is responsible for providing expertise in the design, implementation, and optimization of Akamai configurations for web applications. This role requires full stack development skills to create services that enhance the use of vended software, ensuring high availability and optimal performance. The Lead Engineer collaborates with clients to assess their needs, monitors performance metrics, and develops training materials, all while staying updated on industry trends and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Help design, implement, and optimize Akamai configurations for web applications.
  • Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with clients to assess their requirements and provide strategic consulting on Akamai services.
  • Monitor traffic and performance metrics using Akamai tools and dashboards.
  • Develop and deliver training materials and documentation for clients and internal teams.
  • Stay updated on Akamai products, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Provide support for incident resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Assist in the integration of Akamai solutions with other technologies and platforms.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' engineering (full stack) experience
  • Experience with Java/J2EE, web application development and API design
  • 2+ years' working with and supporting CDN technologies (ideally Akamai solutions)
  • Strong proficiency in Akamai CDN configuration and administration
  • Understanding of core networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/s, proxy, load-balancing)
  • Previous experience monitoring Akamai services for performance and availability
  • Advanced experience on Splunk, Datadog or other SIEM monitoring tools
  • Experience in integrating websites and implementing CDN technologies
  • Collaboration skills for working with security teams
  • Experience working with Rest APIs and Java development (CI/CD)
  • Experience with API tools like Postman/Rest APIs and API acceleration/Caching patterns
  • Strong experience in building APIs and Microservices
  • Proven ability to manage activities with limited guidance
  • Effective communications, interpersonal, and team building skills
